Vista Hermosa Natural Park
This park with built with our earth in mind, with the use of native plants, green materials, and 20,000 gallons rain water storage in the middle of the urban downtown. Many other features include, Children’s Adventure Area, Streams and Waterfall, Grassy Meadows, FIFA-regulation Soccer Field, Picnic Grounds, and a Grotto. Located at the western gateway to Downtown, at the corner of 1st street and North Toluca street.
Coldwater Canyon Park
This park is located across from the fire station where Beverly meets Coldwater Canyon in Beverly Hills. It offers picnic areas, a playground, a water feature and shaded arbor.
Beach Park #1
It is hard to beat the view of this park, sandy beach, ocean, and mountain views. Beach Park has picnic tables, playground, and sand pit. Located on Ocean Park at Barnard Way in Santa Monica
Parks with Walking/Hiking Trails
Brand Park
This park sits at the base of the hiking trails into the Verdugo Mountains. It has a children's playground in the shade, a seasonal children's wading pool, picnic tables, a Japanese Tea Garden with coy pond, a library, bathrooms, basketball court and baseball field. Beware of google maps on this one, best to get directions to Brand library at 1601 W Mountain St. Glendale, CA 91201.
Culver City Park
Culver City Park is a 41.55 acre park featuring kids playground, picnic areas, barbeques, softball diamonds, half court basketball, soccer fields, skateboard park (more details), and nature trail. It is located at the corner of Duquesne & Jefferson.
Universally Accessible Playgrounds
Shane's Inspiration
Shane's Inspiration is not only a fabulous kid's playground in Griffith Park. It is also a non-profit organization dedicated to developing universally accessible playgrounds throughout Southern California. The Griffith Park location can be found at 4800 Crystal Springs Rd 90027.
Pan Pacific Park
This park has a universally accessible playground, a parking lot, bathrooms, basketball courts, spacious lawn area, jogging path, picnic tables and barbeques, baseball diamond and indoor adult gym. Located at 7600 Beverly Blvd 90036.
Aidan's Place
This fully-accessible Boundless Playground features the airplane, accessible slides, a sand castle, and water play. Additionally, they offer tennis courts, and indoor swimming pool. Located at 1350 S. Sepulveda, Los Angeles, CA 90024.

Shaded Parks
Garfield Park
This park has a large playground, picnic area, sand pit, 2 lighted tennis courts and a large groomed parkland. Most of the playground is shaded well keeping the equipment and the kiddos cooler in the summer months. It's located on Mission St in South Pasadena just east of Fair Oaks Ave.
Polliwog Park
A large pond with ducks are the center piece of this south bay beauty. The parks also features light house inspired playground, swimming, shaded areas ideal for picnics and bbq. Located in Manhattan Beach at the corner of Redondo Avenue and Manhattan Beach Boulevard.
Douglas Park
A small park with lots going on, it has ponds with ducks, turtles, and fish, playground with sand pit, water features in the summer, shady picnic tables, and tennis courts. Close to The Pump Station and California Chicken Cafe on the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Chelsea Avenue, in Santa Monica.
