St. Patrick's (Pádraig) Day
St. Patrick is one of the Patron Saints of Ireland.
The day of his death, March 17th, is celebrated in and out of Ireland
as a religious and non-religious holiday. As the saying goes, "Everyone is
Irish on St. Patrick's Day", so let's celebrate this green day
with a focus on Green!
Games to Get in the Spirit

Liam the Leprechaun
|
Leprechauns are masters at eluding us silly humans so they can keep their treasures hidden. Play the "Where's Liam the Leprechaun?" game with your kids in the days leading up to St. Patrick's Day. Leave hints of his presence around the house each day, for instance, pour a glass of green milk with shock and surprise, paint the toe nails of your kiddos green after they are fast asleep, leave tiny muddy footprints using a pair of doll's shoes, hide a treasure map and more. For the grand finale, leave a Pot of Gold from Liam with a note that he'll be back next year.

Mr. Fox Children's Game
|
One child is Mr. Fox and the other children line the wall. Mr. Fox stands about 10 feet away with his back turned. The children in the line say, “What time is it Mr. Fox?” He replies, “one o’clock.” Then the children walk slowly toward the fox, repeating the question and answer until the Fox says, “Dinner time.” The fox chases everyone back to the wall. It anyone is tagged, he/she is now the Fox.

Festive Products
The Four-Leaf Clover, a symbol of luck, is a symbol synonymous of the Irish, along with the color green. Our lucky, green friends are a reminder that we are truly lucky to have options: alternative products that are made with the environment in mind. Here are some of my favorite Etsy product finds.

Little Sapling Toys |

What You'll Need:
- A Halloween Cauldron or a Pot for planting
- Recycled Construction paper in the colors of the rainbow
- Crumpled paper or old white pillowcase
- Scissors
- Non-toxic glue or tape
- Gold (organic candies, quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies* or seed bombs) *adult supervision as change is a choking hazard
How to Make:
Fill your pot or cauldron with crumpled paper and your choice of gold. Cut 1/2-inch strips from each piece of construction paper and tape the ends to each side of your pot in the pattern of a rainbow (Red-Orange-Yellow-Green-Blue-Purple). |
